Hey just thought I’d share this since people have had problems with 4x4 not working. I checked all wires and everything everything was connected good. So I went to the vacuum hose in the engine bay that’s connected to a solenoid took the one hose off blew air in it and there you go 4x4 light goes on and 4x4 is engaged. Came to the conclusion I have 3 problems it could be 1.bad wiring to solenoid 2. Vacuum hose small leak since it only puts out 13 psi any leak can cause it to no engage 3. Bad solenoid .
Will first start with wiring going over it all making sure it’s getting voltage. Then replace vacuum line . I am hoping it’s not the solenoid called Toyota out of curiosity of what they go for and he said $1400 but they don’t even make them anymore. I believe if that’s the case it can’t be something that fails very often my guess is it’s the wiring or vacuum hose leak. Hopefully this helps some people.
