    Hello,

I have a 2021 Toyota Tacoma 4x4 v6. Only about 20k miles on it. The past two weeks I have been having issues with starting the ignition.
It sounds like it is very delayed and slow to start almost like the battery is dying.
However, this only occurs when the car has been off or parked for a few hours at least.

I took it to the dealership (since I still have a warranty for a few more months) they tested the battery and said they couldn’t find anything wrong. I asked if it could be the starter and they said “no your issue would likely be more specific to the battery, which seems to be fine”.

Has anyone else had similar issues or have an idea of what this could be? Thank you.

I’d get the battery load tested somewhere else.
Do you have any aftermarket dooodads? Try disconnecting them.

    Welcome to the forum :hattip:

The item most likely to fail in the electrical system is the battery, have it tested by someone with a real load tester - and who knows how to use it.

If you need a new battery my preferred brand is DEKA, they are made in Pennsylvania.

If you have done any modifications to the electrical system your cause may well be there.

Something’s could be drawing the battery down when it sits.
In this case, the battery is still “good”. The alternator will recharge the battery and the battery test will show “good”. Just as it should.

However, repeatedly draining the battery will cause premature failure.
Depending on the dealership or tech, they might not want to put a lot of “free time” in diagnosing it.
Plus, it helps to have the vehicle malfunctioning when it is brought in.

Maybe ask them to keep it over night?
