I drain the old oil into a big bucket the set it aside and proceed with changing the filter and adding new oil. lastly i pour the old oil into old bleach bottles. point telling you all that is that it sat static in the bucket for a while. now the question, when i went to pour out the oil from the bucked i noticed a round solid circle dead center of the oil in the bucket that had a slight sheen to it, enough to get my attention. circle about 3" across. maybe a very slight bluish tinge to it.
    ring any bells?
    maybe a good thing i ordered a 2023 yesterday!

More than likely it's just something that won't mix in the oil from the container!

When I changed my oil and pulled the filter housing drain cap...the o-ring for it fell into the waste oil catch container, but its not more than an inch in diameter.

it is a pain but i know exactly what oil is going in. other than the dealer changing it i don't trust outside oil change places to put in mobile 1.

but i can start over and do the 8 year extended warranty. also get out of a 8 year old truck that is the first model year.
50/50 that my order will be filled per the dealer due to dealer allocation amount of tacomas they can get. no money down and if i don't want it when/if it comes in no big deal. few months to make up my mind.

Could collect some and send it in for testing at black stone. Aside from that I doubt there is much anyone can tell you.

i accidentally posted in 2nd gen. dropping this here for 3rd gens see it. sorry for cross post.

    so many oil threads.
i don't know where to leave this...don't want to start a thread for it...or if it has already been posted. if meaningful it will get around i think.

Mobil 1 rebate program is on for 2023.
even though walmart is not in "terms and conditions" list, the online submission form accepts walmart and mobil 1 cust svc confirmed you
can buy at walmart. I just submitted for $20 rebate. my previous years account was convenient to get right to it.
