I had my aftermarket hitch added to my Tacoma at UHaul way back when I used to haul a double jet ski trailer for years. It was only when I bought a travel trailer (2,600lbs. dry weight) I thought I'd crawl under there and take a good look. One of the mounting bolts was slightly cross threaded and the shim wasn't secured fully! Lucky I kept my receipt and took it back to UHaul and they replaced the whole unit with a new one. Guess the original hitch was a little tweaked so it wouldn't fully mount properly. I see your Tacoma is a 2023 so it should still be under warranty? Crawl under the hitch and take a look at how it's mounted onto the frame, if anything looks funky take it back to have it inspected at the Dealership? Good Luck....

On my 2020 the hitch sags as well. As mentioned before there was play in the receiver and it would rattle and clunk a bit. Got an anti-rattle device to tighten it up but the slight sag is still there.

Appreciate the pics. I think I’ll roll with it like it is. Everything underneath looks tight and solid. The dealership seems to make everything worse.

Maybe its just a bit of discomfort.

Did you lube the hitch tube prior to inserting the wood?

Wood sag is a real thing, and going in dry can definitely amplify this effect. Its not uncommon for a small white pine wood to disappoint; OP might try something with a little more girth, maybe a true hardwood, like a 2x2 ebony wood.

Ok, so I went to the dealer and looked at the Tacomas on the lot. Out of the 5 they had all had the same “saggy ass” as mine except… yes this is comedically funny, all but the Sport, its hitch was perky. Just gonna roll with it. Thanks for all the help… well some of you
