I bought my SR5 for a good price but it came with the red accent panels on the interior. I wanted to see if anyone found a way to change it without breaking the accent panels off. I was a video where a guy reupholster it but he had to essentially break off the panel then glue it back on. upload_2023-6-9_8-38-35.jpg

Did you ever figure this out? My truck just got delivered and it has the red inserts. What design engineer thought that was a good idea? They are atrocious!

No, I’ve just kinda accepted it. I might go to a local upholstery place one day and see what they would charge.

Wish I new a good way to change my red accents as well on the SR5. It’s the only thing I wasn’t 100% on when I got the truck. It’s grown on me a bit, but I’d prefer it black.

I’d be scared to use the above vinyl spray and mess up/regret it. Saw a thread in the past where someone had the pieces dyed black by a shop. May be an option to consider.

I masked off around the door panels and used 2 products by SEM. First, a Vinyl & Plastic Prep Spray followed by their spray paint (believe its name Color Fast…something like that). Have had no deterioration of the color at all in 2 years.

The panel above the glove box is easily removable so you can do it without masking it off. It pops out a bit and there are 2 small screws to remove- one on left side the other at bottom right.

another option would be to order Katzkin leather in a matching red to your door panels and change to leather seats.

That’s what I did. Changed my door panel color from gray to Katzkin Cardinal Red.
