So you're trying to swap only the cab and bed of the '99 PreRunner and put it on the '98 4x4 frame?

Yes, already have the bed swapped. Don't know where to start as far as the cab. I am in hopes that I can

Should fit up just fine, especially since it was within the same design revision ('98-'00). 2WD PreRunners and all 4WD models have the same frame, except when it comes to engine types. The v6 engine mounts are a couple inches forward versus the inline 4 models. The 5 lug 2WD trucks have completely unique frames, they are a different car in and of itself.

I wonder if it'd be easier to swap the starter and 4x4 parts over to the 99?
I guess it depends on the tools you have at your disposal.

The hole for the shifter is slightly different, but a few minutes with a sawzall will take care of it.

I see above that the basic 2wd (non-prerunner) has a different frame. Will the bed from the basic 2wd fit on a 4wd frame? My understanding is that it "should". Just want to confirm someone has done it and had no issues with fitment.

I have some damage to my current bed and although functional, in the long term I want a good straight bed. I have a 2wd bed for sale in my area.

The beds are interchangeable. Helped a friend put one from a junker 5 lug at the pick and pull onto his 4wd. 6 bolts total, easy job.

Remains to be seen I bought the tires and wheels the rest came along
you might need to weld the rear bolts fast on the bed as there is no access

The factory bolts had ears to keep them from spinning .

Here I always needed to cut the bolts off with the torch.

And to be double sure, it was a non-prerunner low sitting, run to home depot for a few bags of mulch, paw paw truck you pulled the bed off of?

Yessir. If it had been a 4wd or prerunner that sucker would've already been picked down to the frame (and even that would've been taken too).

By the way, that was a funny and accurate description of the 5-lugger trucks
