Drove south about 45 miles to Indian River Inlet...there's a nice beach just on the other side of the bridge where surfers roam.





I had a quenching beer.



Half dozen Blue Crab.



And dessert...Peanut Butter Freak. My taste buds were overwhelmed for sure!

 

For my own reminder...

 

Work has really preoccupied me lately...I know we're all in the similar predicaments...or maybe in a better atmosphere arena.

But that's not what's on my mind...I had an friendly interaction with a TRD Sport owner at the liquor store.

The guy saw me get out of my truck and just kept staring. As I approached the entrance where he was parked near, he asked a question.

"Is your TRD lifted?"

I was taken back by the question because of the "lifts" I've seen on TW and answered "no".

"Maybe it's because of my fender flares?"

In any case, I just thought it was interesting that by appearance, the fender flares gave off the image of a "lift" from a distance.

I have seat covers for my Sport that I have not installed. One of these days, I'll light a fire under my backside and put them on. lol

 

Exactly 1 month to the day the last time I posted.

Well, work has been the same...this week was challenging once I told Cath Lab Managers I was going on 2 weeks PTO/vacation this past Wed.

Talk about, "Panic at the Disco", lol.

So, I did what I had to do...my desk is the cleanest it's been since I first took over as Materials for Cath Lab.

Some have even hinted..."are you coming back?"

We've lost 7 personnel within Materials in the last 6 weeks so there is some cause for concern.

But...I am long overdue this "break from the action" to go see my family is SoCal; wife is accompanying me too.

Quality time with my 80 yr old mother and step dad is essential--they've got their personal affairs in order and always prepared to review their plans.

We'll be in Cali for 1 week...never enough time but leaving is really such sweet sorrow.

 

Of course I'm listening to lots of tracks from my youth in LA.





There's more but I'm in this mode right now.

 

I really liked the SOS Band as a teenager in Jr High.

 

And of course...I mimic/copied his name when I established my Yahoo email.

 

Welp, that seemed like a quick trip to SoCal/Inland Empire.

Family time...visits with HS friend and an AF buddy from my first assignment.

Plus, we did overnighter to Vegas to visit my wife's friend who use to live in Delaware.

I took this week off too...so, I can take care of personal matters without work interference.

My Sport sat for a week without being started...so I will take her out tomorrow.

 

Received Toyota notification today regarding "Fuel Seepage from the high pressure fuel pump".

It's not a Recall...only take to dealership if you experience the details described.

There's a perforation to remove details and put in owner's manual if the fuel seepage is detected at later date.

I received the same notice 4 months ago for my 2020. Filed away for now. Hopefully will never have to use it.

 

Just watched, "No Hard Feelings" with Jennifer Lawrence.

Yeah, it has an inappropriate storyline...but the characters revealed eventually got me to like it.

Just remember Hall & Oats song, "Man-eater". lol

 

Oil change today!

Installed Fumoto valve and aluminum housing. Pics forthcoming.

Newest update to my Sport on the lift -- vintage grill, fender flares, window tint & window guards are noticeable changes.



The funnel that came with the kit to convert to the Fumoto valve.



I added another funnel from the Auto Hobby Shop; it prevented spillage which I had the first time I used it.



Installed the Fumoto.



I bought the long neck version of the Fumoto which is still tucked under the TRD Skid. There's oil I cleaned up on the skid.



Draining is less messy with this valve/tubing.

 

Some notes of my oil change today:

I hand tightened the aluminum housing until it stopped twisting inward--there was no need for further torquing.

The screw cap that goes into the bottom of the aluminum housing was tightened with 3/8th extension & ratchet--no gorilla torque.

The last oil change was done by me and I did not over-tighten the oil pan bolt and oil filter housing unit--they were still tough to un-torque.

I'm still getting comfortable/familiar with my truck's oil changes.

The next oil change is expected to be less messy.

 

What year? I have an 1981 GS 550T. Many books and parts catalogs say it doesn't exist. It was a mid-year model when they ran out of GS550L's. Slightly smaller tank, different gauge cluster.
