The fuse is good, the relay is okay because I swapped out relays and the same issue occurred. It works sometimes but not others. What's next, could the switch under the steer wheel column be dirty or going bad?

Your clock spring might be damaged. Is your airbag light on?

The light is not on. What is the clock spring?

The clock spring is a mechanism that connects your horn and your airbag to the rest of your wiring harness while allowing the wheel to spin. If you do go investigate, make sure you disconnect your battery before taking your steering wheel off.

You may be right. The horn won’t work when steering wheel is at the 12 o’clock position but it does work when the steering wheel is at the 2 o’clock position. So I think maybe there’s a dead spot in the contact point?

That sounds like a faulty clock spring to me. They can wear out over time and it's possible to damage them if you've been messing with steering components and something was clocked wrong on reassembly.

Thanks, I don’t think I should go aftermarket on this, I think they like $225 from Toyota, any thoughts on getting it used from a parts truck?

about the same odds as an aftermarket for reliability

Did you put a scan tool on the truck and see if there are any codes?

I do know my dad's 2006 and my 2006 have different clock springs. Mine came with the buttons on the steering wheel and his did not.

That’s a good point. Would you do a $25 eBay one or a $225 Toyota one?

Your issue does sound like a clock spring but I've had codes that didn't trigger a light before. I'd want to see what it says.

I went Toyota replacement but it's a coin toss either way. Your either flipping the coin or spending it...Good Luck.
