I just sold my 2022 TRD off-road 4dr long bed V6. I am replacing it with a 2023 SR access cab 2.7. Just wanted to hear your thoughts on the flash tune. I did have the Kdmax 9.0 on the V6 and it was pretty nice.

I have a tuned 2.7. Yes it is worth it. Why did you sell a trd offroad to buy a base model?

I haven't. But I have a question for you about it. Since you're not a salesman for them.

Is the tune truly only for enhancing the performance of the automatic transmission?
Of course, there may be the benefit of 1 or 2 mpg increase. Or maybe a smoother idle. Or possibly even a wee gain at the top end. IDK
But is a tune worth the money for a 2.7L with a Manual Transmission? Be honest now.

    I don't think they made a 2023 2.7 with a 5 spd, did they?

To use the money to by my son a car and just a basic truck for me. The TRD off-road 4dr long bed was just too much truck for my needs.

The tune on the TRD off-road V6 made the transmission work better, had better throttle response, reduced down shifting going up incline on the highway and made noticeable more power. Also gained at least 1mpg which isn’t much but still an improvement.

They do not have a 2.7 manual. 2017 was the last year of that combination.

    Cheers for that.
What I thought - almost all to do with the AT.

I don’t agree with that. There are plenty of satisfied manual drivers with the tune. Helps with rpm hang and power for sure. No I have 0 affiliation with the tuners but I have done plenty of research. I also flash tuned my own truck and tried many different tunes and throttle settings.

Your first reply was 90% to do with the AT. But, yeah, if performance of the engine overall (top end, idle, fuel consumption, long life, etc.) would be obvious then I'm for it. Your "throttle response" stood out, I like that.
Most people pretty much only mention the reduced gear hunting, smoother shifts, staying in lower gears for long climbs, acceleration = all to do with transmission performance. But i'm keeping it on my radar.

Pretty much everything you stated here applies for the 2.7. Makes it from feeling slow to feeling normal.

Kd makes a 2.7 tune? I looked at their website, and all I saw was the 4.0
