Hello there, short intro from me . I was originally 4runner owner which had chassis rust, Toyota dealer didn't have used 4runners ( 4th gen ) or even used Tacomas. I went with 2023 SR5 SX 4X4 V6 for originally 42K that i was able to push down to 37K, not sure if that's the price for all states, in NJ it was.

I noticed that this.. truck? is soft compared to older models, a rear bumper is actually a plastic, looks like a chrome but its plastic. Same for front " Do not step " on bumper.

I wanted to know is this for all new generation tacomas? or its something fancy that comes with SX.

    Thanks.

Hello, thank you and yes, I just noticed some surface rust on transmission, the car is brand new. Dealership literally took off covers in front of me off seats, guess it stood in rain.

After being scammed with used 4runner and finding out later about frame , I got so much experience with fighting rust that there is no way I am letting this one slip. I even ordered screw rubber covers to avoid rusting them. I still miss my 4runner, it was my first car, even though it was ticking bomb/hazard on road, i was thinking to go back and get it back.. I've spent so much time trying to help it, its just shame how Toyota abandoned 4runner frame rust recall and all of us with it.

And about bumper, yea I can post pics later and see it yourself, it looks chromed but I swing a fist at it and its plastic I am sure of it. Actual steel is inside it, outside is all plastic.

    Here is my tacoma..

Thats a great deal IMO, congrats on the new truck. I havent coated my tacoma yet on the frame and avoid driving in most snow and wet unless its light. When you bring the truck in for service you can take a look under while its on the lift and monitor everything.

I just took away that minor rust, took me 20-30 min but is worth it. Didn't want to wait until service, one rain and it might get worse, won't risk it. You should take care of it too, don't be easy on rust, because if it gets inside frame it will be harder to remove. Yes, sadly I don't have lift so will have to wait for service.

Like my 4runner was painted from previous owner and rust didn't care, all it takes one blister in paint and it will get in there, and might get under it too, its crazy.

I traded yes, they took it for 3K. Frame was goner, rusted all the way, missing parts. However that 4runner was still getting above average MPG, engine not eating any oil, I would never sell it if not the chassis rust.

I am paying 750$ a month, total was 38K from Dealership, went to 47K total with taxes etc.. I will be paying this 6 to 8 years.

Because my credit is only year and half old. Interest rate with bank was high. Even though my credit is 720, it doesn't matter because its young, barely 2 years old.

Fuck taxes and dealer fees. A lot more people would have reliable vehicles if a fucking 37k truck didnt turn into closer to 50k at the end. Enjoy your truck dude they are great
