Hi everyone. Just sold our 2wd 2007 tacoma to upgrade to a '23 tacoma trd sport which should arrive any day now.

Looking forwards to getting out on some trails with the 4x4. I'm a total newbie as I was always too nervous to take the 2wd too deep.

Also looking to learn and get some inspiration for a camper down the road. I had my sights set on a pop up truck camper but feel a bit overwhelmed when trying to learn about payload vs towing capacity...it seems perhaps that could be very limiting with the trailers I was looking at or maybe not...more research needed!

Curious what type of sets ups people have, was hoping for a basic toilet of some sort as an upgrade from the back of bed sleeping we have been doing in the old tacoma. We also both work online so it would be nice to have something with a bit of space to work, as my dream is to work lake side, mountain side, beach side or where ever our new tacoma takes us!

I'm excited to join the community, thanks for having me :)

Out of the box the Tacoma is surprisingly off road capable. Once you get off beaches and fire roads then I’d suggest more aggressive tires, recovery equipment, lifts and armor et al.

My 2023 SR has the same open differentials you have. With a set of fresh Duratracs, I have been really impressed with how the truck has handled everything Wisconsin has thrown at it, and it’s off road more often than most.

We currently camp out of our van, but we have been starting to look at camper options for the Tacoma.

Great little truck. I can’t remember enjoying a vehicle more.
