Hello everyone. I’m new to the group. I’m looking to swap out my OEM stereo for the latest and greatest but I’m wanting it to be compatible with the steering wheels controls. Any suggestions?

vehicle is 2010 full size Tacoma.

    Thanks in advance.

Crutchfield. Buy the prewired harness. You program it to your steering wheel controls.

To get SWC to work, you usually need an extra module, either a Maestro RR2 or a PAC module, your choice. How comfortable are you with wiring? Reason is, I second the Crutchfield suggestion. They will, for a small fee, solder up the harness for the stereo and module you choose. So,

step 1 - decide what you’d like (ie. wireless CarPlay/android auto), you’ve already decided on SWC. Crutchfields’ sort function will help here.
step 2 - CALL them, don’t just put it in your cart and buy. You can talk about modules, harnesses and any other add-ons (think dash kit here).

step 3 - wait a few days, then have fun putting this all in.

I had the stock 6 disc before installing a Joying head unit with the 8" screen in my 07 at least 2 years ago. Very pleased with it, zero issues, plug and play and the steering wheels controls were easy to setup. There is a Joying thread in this forum that may give you some insight for the latest and greatest.
