    I measured the rear end tonight by disconnecting the shocks and springs and letting it rest on some scales.

    e-locker with BFG KO2 275/70-17's
    500lbs on the dot

    Just gonna throw this out there- u-bolts are single use items. If you disconnected them to weigh your axle, you need to replace them with new ones. The threads stretch at full torque and are not safe to reuse after that.

    I only unbolted the shackle, and let it dangle from the front mount.

    Not sure exactly what you were trying to weigh, but that hardly seems accurate.

    I jacked up the truck, disconnected the shocks and the spring shackles, and let the rear end rest on the scales. It seems pretty accurate to me.
