Buying used camper, title not in current owners name

UPDATE, never mind, decided not to pursue, not clean enough for me.

Quick thoughts on this. Looking to buy a camper, found one used. The camper was bought from the current owners brother yearish ago. They didnt register it, only have a BOS. They did not fill out the title, so in legal world i am buying from the current owners brother, i think (even though there is a BOS, nothing was filed).

Current owner would like the bank check filled out to him, i would rather buy from the owner on the current title and any money and BOS made to owner on title.


FWIW, i have only talked to the guy, i sense zero amount of maliciousness. I dont feel like i am getting some bait and switch, just not as clean as i like things to be when dealing with a $15,000 dollar purchase. I havent looked at it, im just two hours away and squaring some things before making the trip so im not wasting my time.


My feeling, say something goes wrong, i gave money to the current owner, but not to the owner on the title. Current owner says he would probably be able to track down brother (doesnt live close), just not as easy for him.
