Send it off for a 3rd party rebuild and tell them you want straight cut gears on the rotor pack. Steigermeier? would probably do it. That should get it whining pretty good. You’ll loose a warranty but those are for pussies.

1st gen - it's got a built engine, a turbo, and waaaaaaay too much to list. 3rd gen - basic-bitch lift, S/C, Pro Wheels
Magnuson offers straight cut gears for the that particular unit, but it's a rather expensive "upgrade". The gears that are in it were specifically designed to lessen the amount of whine that it makes. I can hear mine whine, but it's in very particular situations, to include low or no audio from the stereo.

People have also routed a "sound tube" from the stock air box to the passenger side of the firewall and it made such a huge difference in sound that they had to remove it for being TOO loud.

There's an entire thread that goes over literally everything about the Maggie unit.

Thats good to hear. the altitude it going to cut into the power as well but if your feeling it then its likely just the design as others noted. Im used to my loud rotor pack in the 2nd gen.

Just a quick update. I heard the whine yesterday and it is very quiet. I have bad hearing and that's probably why I couldn't hear it. Cheers for all the responses.

Which snorkel do you have? I just installed a maggy on my 3rd gen. According to my boost gauge I'm barely making any boost unless I am way up on in the RPMs. I'm thinking the snorkel (airaid) could be the cause.

I have the ARB safari Armax Snorkel. It's fitted with the Syklone pre-filter and Im using the stock airbox/filter inside the engine bay.
The whine is extremely quiet. Sometimes I can hear it in 1st and 2nd gear when accelerating somewhat hard, otherwise, getting up high in the RPMs and stuff it pulls but without sound. At least that I can hear. I think its just designed to be quite and the snorkel and stock airbox help it maintain the quiet sound. If those things were changed it might be different, but can't say for sure. Either way the truck moves and its amazing.
