Graphene Coated Truck Today

Was able to capture this sunset reflection right before dark

so the steps I was thinking
Wash with dawn soap( remove wax)
Clay bar (remove any contamination)
Polish (better finish)
Wax then graphene?

 

Its nice and shiny.

 

No, should have but,

1.) Hand apply Maguire's polish compound for paint correction.

2.) Wash with regular Adams Mega Foam .

3.) Wipe down with Adam's Graphene Prep .

Not perfect but very nice.

PS, I have always hand washed the truck and no carwashes.

I also use Adams. This is my new favorite.

 

I had my tacoma professionally ceramic glass coated. So far nothing has changed in over 3 years since it was done. I don't do any wash's period. I was told this coating never needs washing, or polishing.

 

Graphene is a form of Ceramic Coating. If you put wax on, then you negate the longer life of the Graphene.

Ceramic Coatings and Graphene are used instead of wax. And instead of Zaktek if your dealer has that too. It is a generational step above and beyond those products. Using them together in combination doesn't perform any better, it just reduces you to the performance of the lowest common denominator or weakest link. So you get no benefit of the Graphene / Ceramic only the cost and labor to put it on.

Steps should be...
1. Wash really well and RINSE really well.
2. Use an iron decontaminator with a polish - 2 step process.

3. Clay bar
4. Wipe the surface with rubbing alcohol to cut any oils or greases off
5. Ceramic Coat or Graphene

 

This all sounds way too much like work. I'll get the checkbook out.

I may move onto the new tech, but I like spending my alone time waxing every so often.

 

I had my truck ceramic coated when it was new in 2018. Water still wicks off the hood and fenders. Well worth it.

 

I bought a bottle when I had my silver SR, it’s hard to see the rainbow effect on light colors.
Did the headlights and taillights on my new OR today, probably do the truck next weekend. Your truck looks great!

 

It’s actually easier than waxing, but yeah I get it, I usually have to force myself to do this type of stuff

Not having to wash or wax it for 3+ years is about the only way I can justify the $900 they want for ceramic coating here.

Would like to do it, want to do it, but, but,

 

I hear ya… ceramic coat and front bumper 3m was 2000$… with a lifetime warranty. Could get it redone every year for the life of the truck without paying more money.
