What diameter trees? Hardwood or softwood? I’ve got a 16” 40V Ryobi, but anything over 8” diameter I prefer the Stihl.

    Update:
‘Consutation’ meeting with Firm 2 set for late July. Man this thing is dragging on.

If there is a lawsuit, I’m gonna ask for compensation for pain and frustration :angrygirl:

The oak closer in the forefront is hard, the ficus or strangler fig in the back is soft but huge. My yard is a wreck, but I'm saving thousands doing this work myself. Think I'm going 16" red 18v.

That oak is huge! Are you taking all of it down or just trimming?

We must have traded shifts. That's about when I finally went to bed.

Happy Father's day, dads! Congrats on fooling at least one lady that you were handsome and/or handy!

I’m a yellow guy, but I’m a strong proponent of the KISS method… so more red isn’t a bad idea.
I had the EGO weedwhacker, so I added the leaf blower when it went on sale (came with a 5A battery). Then HD lost the rights and Lowes/Ace got it. I picked up the edger and 18” chainsaw on clearance at HD, so there’s not much left I need in the yard arsenal. I’d get the hedger if it ever showed itself used. I have a corded B&D, so no rush…

Just trimming the oak I like it. The ficus in the back is the worst tree. It bought me a new roof in 17 before I owned the house and is the reason I'm replacing the fence now.

Yesterday I was mowin' along, singin' a song (Radney Foster) and BAM!

I made a sudden stop and the cutter deck started clanking... :censored:

    Assume the position:

    KIMG3145.jpg

Looks like a lack - o - clearance situation Clarence.

    KIMG3148.jpg

The blade actually hit the center roller, the deck edge must have rolled back a good 3". This view is after I corrected the issue with a pry bar plus a bit of hammer & dolly work.

    KIMG3154.jpg

This is what the front of the cutter deck hangs on (2X), pretty sure it didn't leave the Toro factory this way but it works.
    :notsure:

    Meanwhile back at the cabin...

Remember the tire I put the plug in the sidewall? Well, the :censored: still goes flat.

Seeing as I had the clunker at the garage already...

    Yep, looks like the problem.

    KIMG3158.jpg

The other sidewall, these are US made Carlisle tires I bought brand new, guess where it is made matters less anymore. :(

Here is the culprit, no damage visible, just leaking right around the mold plug tail.

    KIMG3157.jpg

Well, the glue should be dry, let's see if I can make it around the dooryard without anything falling off.
    :fingerscrossed:

You just can't win with mowers can you?

I will say even with a new mower, I still have to do stupid stuff here and there :annoyed:

This mower has a rough life up on the hill. I run it 3-4 hours a week, everything is on a slope, rocks, mud, tree roots, wild grape vine - rural life is tough.

I probably hit a rock a bear pulled up, they appear randomly all over. I was on the trail and have mowed it 100's of times.

The ZT has a hard life too, I can't imagine how many miles it has on the trailer.

Good to see you around BTW. :fistbump:

I haven't put as many hours on my mower since moving here as I thought. Changed the oil/filter last Spring at 25 hours and it just now clicked over 45 hours. Didn't even change the oil this year; woulda been a waste. With it being super dry, I might mow every other or even 2 weeks in between. Could probably get away with just weed whacking the seepage bed at this point

I'll be here every now and then, but probably not near what I used to.

i have had good Luck with Stihl a pretty good Stocking dealer not far away.

I always have a few chains just swap them out and keep going.

Sharpen in the dark or rainy days.

Living in The Country no one delivers Food .

My Regular UPS driver is the only one delivers to the shop .

the rest toss the box 525' away at the end of the driveway.

Then say delivered to front door.

Well I bought the Red 2727-20 18v and I knew the battery would be the weak point, I chose not to buy the 12 ahr that is suggested and see if I could ride my 4.0 and 6's, that was a mistake. I need a couple 12's realistically to do what I did today.
