    Hey there,

I’ve been having trouble the past month with my tacoma. Sometimes within a few minutes of start up it will make a sound and slight jerk almost feeling like the engine skipped. If I drive within the first few minutes of startup when I reach around 25-40 miles it will do 3 skips normally and then run fine. This only happens after cold starts. I have changed the oil and ran a fuel injector cleaner through but the problem persists. I was thinking maybe a timing chain or tensioner issue, but There is no engine code given so I’m unsure where to start. It has 115,000 mile too which I feel is relatively low to have a worn timing chain. I Appreciate any advice anyone could give.

    thanks!

    Welcome to the forum!

Does your Truck have a Tach ??

A loose ground connection can cause the ignition to stop and start and not cause a code to trip.

It does have a tachometer. It doesn’t seem to have any change in rpms when this occurs.

Just checked the ground. Both the terminal and ground to body read 12.68 volts and the connection seems fine. Is there Any other grounds I should check to rule out the possibility it being a bad ground?
