    with all the news for the new 4th gen, are there any new details/pictures on the factory 4-link system?

    trying to get an idea of how easy it will be to adapt to the 3rd gen over building my own.

    Its a whole different frame assembly. Go look at a current tundra / sequoia its going to be nearly identical to that.

    What's the design intent for having 4 turns of the coil springs against each other? Does the nice 3D CAD rendering depict loaded springs?

    I believe those are progressive rate springs.

    Full OME suspension (885 front springs, Dakar leaf pack + OME shocks) + D29XL extra leaf + 3 deg. shim + RideRite airbags
    From a quick search, seems much cheaper to change coil springs compared to leaf packs. I wonder if OME's will squeak...

    rotated tires changed oil threw out the old air freshener.
    Custome coils are never cheap. supply and demand sort of thing. Leaf springs are like going to a smorgasbord. Take what you want.
    If it's not broke, don't fix it has been the Taco line for some years. Why change now?

    Four bar link looks a lot like what was under my 2000 Isuzu Trooper (great rig)

    Will need new links and new panhard bar to correct geometry when lifting, very much like what's been done for the 4Runner for the past two decades. Expect to spend twice as much lifting the 4th gen rear vs. 3rd gen.

    Should be okay up to 3" lift but after that adjustable lower control arms and panhard will help.

    ^We'll see. Stock 4Runner has very little rear suspension travel due to rubber bushing bind. (Once properly modded it flexes better than modded Tacomas.) At the minimum you'd want to replace all the rubber bushings with urethane.

    I wheel with Land Cruisers and 4Runners and we typically never use urethane bushings, not enough flex. We use OEM bushings or other rubber bushings so we can get that X axis flex inside the bushing housing. But everyone has success with different methods.

    A few guys run them but they are weekend or trail only rigs. On a daily driver it will ride hard as a rock. But this is our go to place and the link ends and heims aren't that expensive but you do need to have them welded. I"ve done only their drag link and steering link bars on the front of my LC. This place can fab up anything for you, been going to them for years...

    Depending on the lift you'll need adjustable trailing arms, adjustable panhard bar, panhardbar corrector.

    Leaf springs are way easier and cheaper.
