Thought you metal heads might be interested in the "New Product Alert" from HF. For $99, be hard for me to spend the time making one if I hadn't already made a similar rig years ago. Hmmm, mine is a bit less capable though...

    Interesting.

I just happen to have a spare portable band saw.

Fuck I'm so glad that didn't come out years ago

I'll keep using my free 18 year old bandsaw.

So I see the slats get cut in the process of using the table. Is there ever a point where the metal will no longer sit level because the slats have gotten so fucked? I imagine it takes a while?

Those are the 'worst' slats as I often cut stuff in the middle of the table (to minimize splashing).

It's only "not level" if a piece of slag is stuck on there but a few taps with my chipping hammer, or worst case my angle grinder, it gets knocked off and my pieces still sit flush.

I probably won't have to replace a few slats for another year or so, and when I do, I can just cut them out myself on my very table.

I could also swap the end pieces with those in the center as I rarely ever cut towards either edge.

Come to think of it, I've cut a shit ton of stuff in the past 6 months already.

Plenty I haven't even posted here as I'd experiment with speeds, etc.

IIRC, the slats are 2” x 1/8” plate. It would be cheaper to buy the flat stock and just cut it to length as you need replacing. I looked into it when I was considering buying Ryan’s table.

I have some in stock...in the corner :anonymous:

The cut file I'm referring to is the style that looks like the bottom of Mortal Kombat's pit with all the spikes

You considering getting the table? Like I said you'd have tons of support from the lot of us

I was going to buy Ryan’s old table but I just can’t justify the floor space right now. I know I’d use it a ton, but until I make room for it, I have to pass. You’ve seen my shop, I could do with getting rid of a few things. Maybe sell my vintage sewing machines finally. Haha.

Those machines are bitching tho! :fistbump:

By the way, I'd just need a few days to preplan meeting up for your table whenever you're available

With that said, if I can cut some parts that you often make at home, I can cut them for you and bring them out

Local shop gets shock tabs from me often

Just have to order a custom u bolt for clamping to my "bracket" for rear mounting then I'll weld up the square tube to it for bolting to the skid plate

Here's what mine look like after 6 months of moderate usage. I only break off any actual pieces of metal that get stuck there. I leave the dross (slag) alone and it kinda self heals. I guess I am a little cocky about it assuming the torch height control system is compensating, and so far that is working out for me. No issues caused by being unlevel.

    Looks exactly like mine.

    I had a complete 4 x 8 sheet of 15 gauge sheared into 2" wide strips.

$70 for 3 years of use so far. When they get real bad, I'll just flip them over.

Got orders for more; it's convenient having cut an extra set or two and a buyer wants an unwelded version so it just gets packed up and shipped
