For my 2005 I am in need of left side caliper, rotors and pads and I was going to try the parts from Napa, forget AutoZone crap. Can anyone offer recommendations on what is a good brand for this stuff? The last ones I bought were from the dealer but I thought it's not worth it now. I want to get good stuff even though it's aftermarket. They have many different brands and I'm not sure what is the best and worth the money. Or if there is another place to get good brake parts. Thanks for any help you can offer.

Rockauto.com is a great source for parts. They carry, among others, Stoptech products for these trucks, which is a good brand - the standard line is at least as good as OEM for brake parts. I can't speak directly about calipers, as I did go with new OEM calipers when I changed mine, but I wouldn't hesitate to go with the Stoptech remans based on the company's reputation if you need to save the dough.

I used Raybestos on my 2014. Coated (new, so no core charge) calipers, coated rotors, and Element 3 pads. Truck definitely stopped better after it. Less than $400 shipped to my door last year from Rock Auto.

Here's a picture with all the part numbers (6 lug truck only)

I switched the front brakes on mine to the cheapest I could find on eBay for the 4Runner (larger diameter rotor and bigger caliper). The package came with pads. The whole thing was a hair over $200. The pads left a lot of dust on the wheels.

Eventually the front pads wore out so I bought new pads from NAPA and I bought upgraded pads. I lost a little stopping power with the NAPA pads and 3 months in the rotors warped.

I ordered Akebono pads and Advics rotors from RockAuto in anticipation of changing them at the next tire rotation. When I rotated the tires I still had a minimum of 4mm on one pad, the others were at 5mm so I'm holding off. At 102,000 miles I think it's pretty good.

I have EBC Ultimax front rotors with EBC yellow pads. They cost a bit more but the rotors are amazing and will last a long time. I just changed pads to the 2nd set in march. The Yellow pads lasted me a year. I put in Powerstop rear drums and pads also, did the whole brake system at once. Make sure to replace your brake lines with Stainless steel line. Great brakes can only brake if they have enough of the juice. Rubber lines aren't the answer for that.

I am in NYS, south of buffalo. Are the rockauto calipers comparable to the oem?

I have a 5 lug, and accidentally ordered 6 lug pads. They’re buried in my garage somewhere. They’re oem pads from a dealership, if interested let me know, I’ll try to find them.

I would be as long as they will work good with non OEM rotors? I have to change rotors and will go with a set from rockauto, just not sure of the brand.

Last time I did brakes I got everything from Amazon and the calipers actually came from Tommy boy's company.

I got the Callahan kit, had the calipers, pads, and rotors. Rotors warped in 3 months, calipers still doing fine.

After that I bought OEM rotors and pads and no more warpage. Serra Toyota online had the best price, way cheaper than local Toyota dealer.

    I dug but didn’t see them. There’s a chance I’ll find them but I can’t promise I will.

Did you happen to notice if the pad size matched the OEM's you may have taken off? The reason I ask is that I went with Raybestos pads and rotors on my Outback, car stops great, but first thing in the morning when putting it into reverse, I get an annoying pad "slap" where I THINK the pad is shifting a bit. Only happens upon the 1st reverse shift in the mornings. I'm just curious if you've noticed anything like that with your truck. (I realize we're comparing apples to oranges here).....Thanks!

No, pads were an exact fit and didn't notice any extra pad slap compared to what it already had.
