    Dear TacomaWorld fam,

I hope the message finds you well. This is my 16 OR, we are currently closing in on 260k. Mileage aside, I have been remiss to find the info I need on adding a Thule Rack or Rhino Rack to my ARE topper. What did everyone else who chose this option go with? Should I buy a prefab kit for this application? I don’t want a lot of overhang with the bars, a thule box is going up there for additional storage. I’m really not interested in a prinsu style rack because this is my work truck more than anything. Tell me what worked for you or link a thread that has this information.

    Thanks, keep on truckin’

Hard to tell from the pics, but it looks like you already have the slotted rails/tracks installed on your shell, correct? If thats the case, just choose the rack of your preference and throw it on! Yakima/Thule type racks just require towers to mount into the tracks, then crossbars of your preferred length. Not sure if you're a brand loyalist, but they all do the same thing essentially. My best experience has been with Yakima, considering their customer service is top notch. Something around 52-54" would probably be your preferred length, but you can measure the width of the tracks and see if there are offerings around that that meet your needs better.

    OTG,

Yes I had the tracks installed when they did the topper. That’s great to know, I appreciate it. Thank you

Have similar tracks on my Snugtop. Yakima baseline towers and crossbars are easy to install and easy to remove. And you can cut the bars down to your preferred length with a hack saw. Easy decision.
