new to me 2008 head unit angle...am I crazy? LOTS OF PICTURES

new to me 2008 head unit angle...am I crazy? I posted, this in gen2 forum with no response, so i hope to get some actual experienced input here.

Heres the story. New to me truck came with crap chinesium head unit with scosche facia bezel. Radio sat at good viewable, Normal angle, no excessive tilt or glare. See picture one and two.

I just had a new headunit installed using a "Pac" bezel, steering wheel controll interface and a Pioneer DMH 341 EX (meh at best). Problem IS the installed screen angled is WAY up. Glare is hidious. Installer says thats normal Tacomas, "I've done all sorts of em". See picture three and four

You tube shows the "Metra" has a different HU mounted angle, much like the acceptable angle (scosche) that was in the truck when I first got the Tacoma

 

its a high gloss screen. maybe try getting a screen protector that cuts the glare

 

Yeah I was hoping not to resort to that... but...
Does your viewing angle get glare?

 

My Kenwood DMX906s has a matte screen. Glare is a minimum.

 

The screen on mine isn’t gloss so no glare here. But mine is also angled slight more downward than that one. There are custom shades from a member here. I forget who makes them though. Would have to search around

 

Yeah, I'd much prefer the proper angle over a glare pad bandage. This 341ex is has a real weak screen and basic graphics. The wife just wanted simple, phone and her am channels. Other than tilt no complaint for those requirements

What face kit do you have?

 

No kit, it comes matte. I think it’s because it’s an eXcelon version. I can even see it with polarized sunglasses.

*d’oh*. Just realized, I have the Scosche kit.
