So a couple months ago, I had thought this sticky stuff all over my truck was tree sap. It made sense to me as the day I discovered it was after a rainy storm and I was parked under a tree. Just 2 days ago, the same exact stuff is all over my truck except this time i was NOT parked under a tree. Only a streetlight. And on top of that, this sticky stuff was splattered all over the street only in front of my truck.

Does anyone have any guesses as to what this residue could be? It took me a whole month between work to remove it with alcohol. Now I'm wondering if even a detailer would be able to remove this stuff.

That was my guess as well. Looks like residue from a sugary drink. Does it come off with soap and warm water?

Do other vehicles parked in the vicinity also have this slime on?

It does not unfortunately. First go around I had to use iso alcohol and a ton of manual labor.

If it was difficult to get off, it looks like varnish to me. Someone is a real dick to do that

Negative. I'm really confused why it's just my rig being targeted. I'm a very easy going guy and get along with everyone. Someone also shot up my passenger door with a bb gun too about a month ago.

You could be right. When it was fresh it had a rubbery smell to it. Is that what varnish smells like?

That is so bizarre. The only thing I can come up with is that someone tossed a soda out the window of their car and hit yours. I’m not sure I would have thought of that without the other folks suggesting it.

Have you tried denatured alcohol? Sometimes the denatured alcohol will work better to dissolve varnish and other saps better than isopropyl alcohol. However, be ready to wash that off your clear coat and plastic bits quickly if it is able to loosen the gunk.

Goof-off takes off sticky residue from emblems. Maybe this would help.

Is the pattern of stuff consistent between the two times? If so, seems you've been targeted by someone for a specific reason. Piss anyone off lately? That doesn't look like something a typical dude would do. Any chicks or kinda chicks have a beef with you?

Update: I was finally able to see if I can remove some of the sticky stuff. I used iso alcohol since it's all I have at the moment and some areas were easy to remove than others like the rubber part on the door. Still unsure what this stuff is, but I'm going to start reaching out to some detailers in my area.

Question for those who'd know, would getting a ceramic coat be a solution to getting this stuff off if it happens again in the future?

And to answer regarding the possibility of some crazy ex doing this, I have no ex gfs or females that I've pissed off lol.
