Rear High Clearance Bumper Design

I'm designing a new rear bumper, figured I'd come to the experts! Smash or pass? What would you change? Keep in mind this is still rough design. Swingout version coming as well.

 

You could take a look at warfab’s rear bumper and decide. It’s pretty close to this one. Only problem with the design on a third gen that part that sticks out has to be really low to clear the tail gate. The bumper ends up looking like you have a body lift. I have the Warfab one and while it’s a cool bumper that part bothers me.

 

No expert here but it looks pretty badass

My two potential issues/concerns. What wall thickness do you plan on using especially on the sections between the frame rails? I would want to see at least 0.188" or even 0.250" do to the span and having the receiver. Second would be does a tube bumper without plating just create areas for things like rocks, branches etc. to be trapped or hung up in?

 

Looks pretty good to me what software you’re using?

 

Thats one thing I've noticed going from a plate to a tube, snags more things.
His does seem to have the right "taper" to it and is alot slimmer in profile than the one I'm running.

 

Finally got around to building one. Few tweaks I want to make, but not bad for a prototype.

 

Very clean design man. Do you think your wing design is rigid enough to take a hit from below and prevent the taillight from beimg cracked open? And what wall thickness did you use for the lower most tube that you tied the hitch into?

 

Yeah, there's a support bar coming from the side of the frame to the side of the bumper, so it's super solid. This one I did the crossbar with 2x.375 DOM, which is a little overkill, but I had it laying around.

Do you still have the 3D scan of the rear? I'm trying to mock up my own bumper and can't find a 3D scan anywhere.
