Apologies in advance as this is not a Tacoma post, although I have a 21 DCORSB.

Going to service my fathers CRV next week and it’s a 2010 with 30k miles. 13 years should I change them? Heard arguments both ways…..esp not wanting them to get stuck……..but at this rate we’ll never get to 100k…..

    Thanks in advance

Dealer doing the service? If the price is reasonable, personally I would probably do it if I plan to keep the car.

Leave them. Spark plugs don't degrade with age, just miles (more accurately, engine operating hours).

Focus your time and money on things that do degrade with time, like a brake fluid flush.

Lol, is CRVworld.com down for maintenance?

PS: leave them in unless all the other crap you are doing makes it easier to get to them.

I'd just replace the ignition coil boots, and only replace the plugs if there are signs the boots failed and allowed moisture to get into the plug wells(hex on spark plug rusty). If you're worried about the plugs seizing pick up some aluminum anti-seize and apply a SMALL amount to the threads of the plugs then apply a pea sized glob of dielectric grease to the coil boots.

How much extra time and money are you losing by doing them?
I mean 13 years is long enough for tube seals to start leaking.
Not to mention, in 7-10 more years when it time to do them those plug boots are going to be tight.
I say just go ahead and do them. Once every 13 years isn’t too bad, is it?

At the same time they are so easy that it doesn’t hurt anything to change them.

If I had a 2010 with original plugs I’d likely do it unless it was a bastard to do like transverse v6 or domestic v8s

Got it, bottom line it is up to me as long as the boots aren’t worn I am good.

and if it’s easy to do which it is go ahead and knock myself out lol

Replacing 13 year old plugs on a Honda is hardly a waste of time. Just do it, the car is worth it. There's worse vehicles to dump a few hundred bucks into

Bottom line is if you’re going to pull them to check their condition then you might just as well replace them.

Not sure about the 2010 but the current one at least that I'm seeing says 37.5K miles, I say just do it and buy the peace of mind of it all.
