    Big plans..
After a particularly long stretch of solid rain the wife said "no f#@%n way I am camping again...unless its in a trailer!" The Jeep had 334,000 km and no tow capacity....thus the beginning of my Tacoma adventure.
I always loved the look. I had no idea there was such a great community behind them. We are pretty extreme hikers / climbers and have been to Hawaii numerous times for the trails. Tacoma's are everywhere in Hawaii and clearly the cult choice.
Enter the new 21 ft. Grand Design Imagine trailer. Yep, 4,600 lbs dry. Thanks to Tacoma World I have heard many opinions on how to, or how not to tow it. I will keep you all appraised on my success or failure.
I bought a 2019 Tacoma TRD Sport with 68,000 km on it. Cement grey. I'm hands on mechanical and love doing the work myself. Thanks in advance to the members for great content.
I have ordered all my parts. Being in the Toronto area overland / off road specific items are hard to come by, and the price often keeps them from being stocked. In the end I had to go with Overland Outfitters in BC (such a solid group of people) to buy my stuff as they had stock on 95% of it.
My 2019 is bone stock. It is getting King 2.5 suspension all around (adjustable rear), Icon RXT stage 2 leaf packs, 33" rubber with 17" rims (have not bought that yet, but love the Goodyear wranglers on my Jeep). Cali 25 degree sliders and a Prinsu roof rack (no led gap as I will go with some KC bush bar stuff..maybe). Yep, need some under armour but tbh I'm already reeling from the $12k I just dropped in parts.
For towing specific, Takonsha brake controller (installed last night in the coin box, lots of rotary tool dash work but perfect placement and no wires), and a Blue Ox weight distribution hitch with anti sway (pricy but beautiful...if you can call a 100 lb hitch beautiful).
On the looks side, blackout overlays for the chrome tags, raised black Tacoma on the tailgate, TRD Pro grille (if anyone can suggest solid quality raptor lights as opposed to the cheap stuff please do), have already deleted the stock running boards (akward, ugly). Did install the seat jackers and wow, such a significant improvement!

Yeah but is he actually going to off road it....yes he is. I'm ex Canadian military, love being outdoors. I know a lot about a lot, but I know nothing about wheeling. I am looking to this forum and some local Tacoma clubs/people to show me what its all about. Weekends of wheeling and camping (out of the back of my truck) are what I am interested in. It won't have the capability of a true off road crawler, but based on what I have read my setup should be fairly capable. I would love to learn from those that know the right level of trails for a new guy and how not to break it on the first weekend.
I will post photos as I build it, mainly because I appreciate others that have done so for me to learn.

Excellent choice. The truck has just enough to complain about to keep us happily bitching. And as much to love… especially off the pavement.

    welcome to TW!
