    Your theory could be valid. The Ruth's are a tight fitting plug when used with the RIPPs. The NGK iridium fit less snug.

    Because the Ruth's fitment was so snug when pressing the RIPP coil pack down+securing the 10mm bolt..... I always wondered the boot had "bottomed out" enough for the connector to reach the terminal end. Kind of like trying to stuff a sleeping bag back into a tiny sleeve, I guess. ( your theory about distance and long arching)

    The other guess is that the funky dished terminal end of the Ruths doesn't play well with the RIPP coil pack terminal.

    Mine isn't in the trash. I do want to clean them up along with the other 5x. And I want to try them with the traditional ngk iridiums.

    yah def curious there if that combo is what the issue is. I have not heard of anyone with 3rd gens or 4runers besides us having failures.

    Folks i recall and which set they had I'm sure all had Ruth's.

    @Murphinator I'm sure what (4runner)
    @SUMOTNK was (tacoma)
    @12TRDTacoma i know you were (4runer)

    Who am I missing?

    I have the modded 4Runner ripp coils (DIY hacking job to make them fit) and ruth’s. It’s not my primary vehicle, I drive it the hardware store maybe every other week. Maybe 2-3k miles per year. No issues yet. I got mine with the first batch.

    I have Ruth’s and RIPP but not a ton of miles a trip to Mexico and back but hit a ton of miles. No issues yet either. @SUMOTNK has the second batch I believe. now I’m curious if anyone has issues with non Ruth plugs.

    My "new" design Tacoma RIPP coil packs were install Jun 2022 with new Ruths and had about 7k miles on them before throwing a P0305 code.

    Those lines are on rails with 3 bolts. Remove the bolts and it wiggles, gives just barely enough room you have to remove the vacuum hose too for the last one close to cab, but not the whole SC. I’ve done the plugs so many times I can do in 1hr now but first time took hours to figure out

    Plugs are so easy to do with the blower on really. It's just figuring out angles and finagling stuff out of the way properly. Having the right tools is just as important though.

    yah my blower was pushing on one wiring harness that was connecting all of the coil packs. We could not get the one or two disconnected so we then removed the blower ad adjusted it better. Next time it may not be as bad but no way we were getting them out when we did it.

    No, I was skeptical of the RIPP's being beneficial.

    I had the tensioner stud failure and the clutchmasters hydro throwout bearing failure.
