I recently brought my truck to the dealer, and bc im over 40k miles, they recommended I get a fuel/air induction service, which is supposed to help maintain fuel efficiency. However, its been a week and my MPGs have fallen a noticeably. My driving habits havent changed, I drive the same routes as always, and my efficiency has fallen by about 10-20%.

Is this normal? Anyone else experience something similar?

    What was the “service”
I doubt it’ll improve or decrease, probably wind, speed, etc related.

The service was noted as a "Complete fuel / air induction service." Looks like they put in a new fuel/air induction kit.
Wind wouldnt have been an issue in the last couple of days and I'm not driving it any differently.

I've never heard of this service. Just the standard fuel system cleaners and air filter changes.

Try running a few tanks of gas through first and recheck. Usually these "kits" involve a fuel tank additive which could be the cause. Also for future reference, use a too tier brand of gas. Doesn't have to be premium just a top tier brand and maybe once a month hit the highway for an hour atleast along with a decent quality oil and there will be no need for this service... not saying it does nothing just that in my experience this service is a cash grab and not required for Toyota's since they have both port and direct injection

They run a can of spray sea foam through your intake and charge you $150 without even a reach around.

When you change something (plugs, filters, etc) or clean something the computer doesn’t know you did anything.
All the adaptive memory should be reset so the system can start off “fat dumb and happy “ and re-adapt. Dodge truck 3.7 and 4.7 engines would always drop economy if you didn’t do a reset after a “tune up”.
The exception to the rule might be the “Italian tune up”. You might want to try that too.

If they cleaned the mass air flow sensor . More than likely they did not disconnect the battery . I would disconnect the battery for 30 min and reconnect. This should correct the incorrect readings .

Thanks. First I think I'll do my own MPG calculation and see how closely it matches the computer's. If its way off, I'll give that a shot.

I would call the dealer and discuss. If you were sold this an economy thing, and spent (wasted) even more money on it, the least they can do is look at it and/or return that money,,, or you are out even more.

not sure what a fuel/air induction kit is? new air filter and a bottle of fuel system cleaner? they may have reset the EFI system so you will get worse MPGs until it relearns everything.
