Is there a separate extended warranty I should get to cover the blind spot monitor system on my 2021 Tacoma? I've had to have it fixed during two of the last winter seasons, so I expect it will need to be fixed every winter for me. Please advise....

Platinum extended warranty is probably the only thing that would cover it once the original B2B warranty runs out. I just turn it off when there is snow on the roads to keep it from losing its shit.

The sensor is very exposed in the bumper caps. I would invest in some good mud flaps or put some type of protection under the bumper cap to keep junk from getting lodged around the sensor. Much cheaper than a couple grand on an extended warranty.

No need to take it in during winter. Just keep snow/slush/ice cleared out of your rear bumper corners. That all their doing when you take it in. Washing out rear bumper.

I've had one warning on the system so far and it went away on its own. Otherwise, if I notice that I'm not receiving the warnings, usually turning it off and back on works for me.

Id say just try to keep it as clean as you can if you depend on it that much. Since they're kinda iffy I stopped using mine honestly. Not the smartest to depend on something that might work 80% of the time I figured

I've been glossing over TW for years and don't remember reading many discussions about the BSM being a problem. Are you up North? Have mud flaps?
