Hello everyone, I'm new to this group, and I apologize if this topic has already been discussed. I tried searching for information, but I found it overwhelming, so please redirect me to another thread if my questions have already been answered there.

I own a 2011 Tacoma PreRunner that I purchased right when the pandemic started, before the prices of used vehicles skyrocketed. It had over 250,000+ miles on it, mostly from highway driving, and it passed the state safety inspections. I'm not sure if any repair or replacement work has been done before, but upon visual inspection, most of the parts appear to be original (except for the brakes).

Initially, I bought this truck as a beater for tasks like dump runs and trips to Home Depot. However, considering the high prices of comparable trucks now, I want to ensure that it continues to run for as long as possible. Assuming that most, if not all, of the parts are still original, what should be my priority when it comes to replacements?

Drive it. Replace parts when they wear out. I bought my 07 new and it is at 238,000 now. The only parts, other than consumables, that I've replaced are the alternator at about 170,000 and the shocks/struts at 125,000 when they wore out. Toyota paid for one new U-Joint at about `180,000 and new rear springs at 200,000.

Of course I change the oil and have changed diff and transfer case oil along with brakes, batteries, and tires as needed. I change the serpentine belt and plugs every 100,000 miles. But that's it. I don't plan to ever change the transmission fluid; its cheaper in the long run to just drive it till it dies and replace it than to service it. I still have the factory drums and rotors, but it will need new rotors on the next brake job. Probably somewhere around 250,000.

Regular maintenence, especially oil changes, fluids, etc. Drive it until you need something.

You don't replace something that is not broken. Severely worn items replace as needed.
