Looking at getting some combo of RTT and canopy for my 2023 Tacoma TRD OR SB.

AluCab canopy camper looks interesting but i have a couple of concerns:

    1. payload of this Taco appears to be around 1100lbs - fully kitted weight of the AluCab seems to be about 560lbs - adding gear and a couple people may put this close to the payload
    2. having combined RTT and canopy looks nice for extra space inside and being able to access the sleeping area via the truck bed, but i'm slightly worried about the possibility of having an issue with a tent which could really be an issue with the entire canopy/camper
    3. relocating the backup camera, although it seems like there are kits for this
    4. it's also pretty expensive

What I like about the AluCab from looking at it is the spaciousness, features you can add, rear tire mount, and what looks to be a pretty solid build.

The other options I have been considering are an RSI smartcap evoa and RTT (maybe iKamper or something like that). A combo like this seems like it would be cheaper and lighter but wouldn't have as much space inside or the features of the AluCab. Also i've tried ordering the RSI smartcap but have been waiting half a year for it to be in stock...

I primarily want to set my truck up for weekend camping, basecamp for longer hikes, moderate offroading on forest service roads, that sort of thing.

If anyone has any experience with either or both of these types of setups i'd appreciate hearing about them.
