Ok so the ABS light came on in my 2005. Brakes work fine. Finally got time to crawl under it to check wires. The right rear cable is broken about 2" out from the sensor plug. Not to brag, but I am good at splicing wires, but not looking forward to doing it on my back with such a short pigtail on the sensor plug. Not sure how it happened. It does not look like it was ripped apart by a stick or something. It is a pretty clean cut at an angle across the cable. Could have been a squirrel or rabbit I suppose. I have not been off road recently. But anyway I need to fix it.

The options I see are getting a longer pig tail from a junk yard, or splicing a piece onto this end before getting under the truck to splice onto the truck end.

I have not yet traced the truck end very far to see where it leads. Does it just disappear into a wiring harness?

Has anyone had to repair one?

    Thanks,

    John

What he said but I’d add an extra splice of 2” or so to the pigtail for a little more room.

Solder joints and heatshrink tube on everything then send it

God those things suck. they just cold solder the joint and break.

Just cut, strip, solder, and use marine heat shrink and it'll be good as new.

Actually the OP is not at all "green" in regard to this skill. He was just curious how others have handled it. Cannot get to it today anyway, so it does not hurt to ask. He certainly would not use "those low temp solder things".

He also checked a new harness, but he will be using solder and shrink tube. ABS rear harness.png

I do thank everyone for the input.
