Hey, I am new to this page and I have a 2010 Toyota Tacoma 2.7 4 cylinder. It keeps sputtering when warm and losing power as I try to accelerate. I have replaced the spark plugs, ignition coils and the injectors. It hasn’t gotten any better. I’m pretty sure it isn’t the head gasket seeing how it isn’t leaking any fluid from the radiator and the reservoir still holds fluid as well. I’m in desperate need of help getting this fixed or if someone has had the same problem guiding me in the right direction to get it fixed. Thanks in advance.

When was the last time the plugs were replaced? How many miles ago? I see you replaced them in the past.

I replaced the plugs about a year ago but it hasn’t ran since then because when I replaced the plugs it would get to 3rd gear and start to bog down and then I would have to drive it 15-20 mph in 2nd gear wherever. The plugs only have about 20 miles on them with a few hours of run time on them.

So I assume you we’re having this problem before you changed the plugs?

Check you're getting a good signal to the ignition coils and to the injectors.

What diag equipment do you have? Noid light? Test light? Oscilloscope?

I have a test light. That’s about it. I was thinking about getting a fuel pressure testing kit and seeing if it happens to be the fuel pump.

How do I do that? I don’t mind learning but I don’t even know what I’m looking for right now. If told I can do it but I’m fishing in the dark right now trying to figure out solutions.

^Were the spark plug tubes dry or full of oil when you replaced the ignition coils? If they were dry, there's no need to replace the tube seals or disturb the valve cover.

I made sure to look inside and also wiped them out with a paper towel and only a little spot or dirt came out. Barely any at all

I would do a compression test next before throwing any more parts at it.

I have a guy that I work with coming to look at it Sunday. I think he’s gonna hook up fuel pressure gauge and a few other tests

Do you top up your gas tank after the pump clicks off?
