These boxes sit right under the driver seat, and i am trying to determine if i might set off the airbag by removing them so i can put in rust protectant after having removed the sound deadening. Does anyone know what these boxes are for?

Anything wrapped in yellow tape/loom is part of the SRS system. If you’re going to mess with it disconnect battery negative and wait 10 minutes before touching anything yellow.

You can remove them no issue, but the battery must be disconnected.

If you tilt the big one it will set off your curtain airbags. (if battery is connected)

small one is side impact sensor. large one is roll over sensor for your airbags. I've disconnected my battery, waited 30 minutes and disconnected airbag components before, but not those specific ones.

The larger one is the Yaw Rate & Deceleration Sensor for the VSC System, the smaller one is Left Side Impact Sensor for the SRS System.
Unhook the battery, wait 10 min and your fine to remove them just be sure to install them back exactly like they were and torque them properly.
Also a Zero Point Calibration should be performed when you are done.
