Got'er done last weekend. Everything was pretty easy except the hangers.....

Since I have a compressor and videos show removal of the stock hangers by cutting a deep 'X' into the rivets with a cut off tool, and then hammering off with an air hammer, i thought this would be a great time to buy an air hammer. Couple things were wrong with this. Maybe the air hammer i got wasn't powerful enough. Bought a couple Husky air hammers from home depot. Pretty much didn't work and I could just grind the rivet heads off anyway. Air hammer method was crap for me.

Drilling - I had some "5x strength" titanium bits. WRONG. You want cobalt. Wasted a lot of time drilling and getting no where until i went and bought cobalt bits. Soon as I got cobalt bits, the rivets drilled out like cake.

And then finally the vertical rivets have a washer on the top side which is welded on. I dremeled off the weld because that's all I could easily get in the space and be able to see while wearing hearing and eye protection with a head lamp and and respirator for all the dust.

In short. For hangers, just use cobalt drill bits and a dremel. Super easy. Wasted a lot of time with the wrong tools.

Even in every how-to video, everyone starts with video with...well we just did the other side and here's how you do it. and you can tell they all struggled to figure it out and were still somewhat unsure of themselves and barely show you anything. Ricardo, i did not watch you're because mi espanol es muy muy poquito so i am not commenting on your video.

Do you mind sharing what the lift cost? Parts and labor. I’m getting quotes now and it’s more than I was thinking.

    Hi Kevin,
The kit from Headstrong were I got mine kit from to fit your truck is about $1600.00 If you do not need the medium Dakars in the back use AAL's and it will be cheaper. I used a Tacoma guy #speedfreek Jason Watson
and he installed at a great price. He was awesome.

I guess it wasn't the final update before. Looks like the hammer hangers and Headstrong 2" add a leaf put the rear up 3 inches so we matched the front. Had a small issues withe the bump stops with a bolt breaking to had to extract that out.

And then the RCI rock sliders seem to have been missing a spacer in the hardware kit so I need to give them a call Monday about that. Now he wants bigger tires. We pulled 285/70r17's off my 4runner and threw them on the front of his truck to see how it would look. Seems like that's the size he wants to go. Looks like we will have to melt and push in a lot of fender or maybe do a BMC. Maybe grind down and weld the pinch weld. We shall see. But here's some pics...I had had to zoom my camera out so some are slightly fish eyed and not the best perspective.

Put on some 285/70/17's on. BMC, moved and melted a lot of fender liner, bumper trim, ground down some pinch weld.

Thanks again for all the input.
