My son has been driving my 2013 for colle/work but he’s moving way north and he’s taking my newer 4wheel drive Tacoma. All good on my end.

I’ve got a few upgrades I’d like to do to the ‘13 (I actually liked the ‘13 more than the ‘194wd).

So any advice or suggestions will be much appreciated.

I have limited mechanical abilities and even less time. I travel for work so running around finding parts, etc. is tough.

I’d like to put LED lights in the truck bed that come on like the lights did in the ‘19 Is thee an aftermarket kit you would recommend?

My ‘19had a nice truck bed pad. It came with the truck. Any suggestion on where to find one of these? Ideally a mail order one.

I’d like my tailgate to lock and unlock when I use my key fob. Is there an aftermarket kit to make this happen? How difficult is this to install and any idea on costs?

I’ve looked around for local shops to do this work but I’m not satisfied with what I’m seeing.

    Thanks.

    All stock, baby!
Toyota makes a nice rubber bed liner. I got mine from a dealership that sells parts on EBay for a good price.

One tailgate lock is made by Pop ’n’ Lock, it has the electric lock/unlock you’re looking for. Just be aware that the plastic part gets sun bleached really quickly, you’ll be fussing with it when you detail the truck. As I recall there’s another option as well but I can’t recall the name of the unit, but a search here on TW ought to turn it up pretty quickly.

I’ve got no info for you on the LED lights, but I’m sure others will chime in soon enough.

    MTN Grunt -

Only a Grunt would respond to a post about bed lights, bed mat and tailgate lock with a post about an air filter.

You must have spent a bunch of time pulling PM out in the field. Thanks for the response. How often you change that filter?

Catholic Radio Bear - that’s what I’m looking for -

Do you know if they make one that is motion activated? My top is never off so I’m not worried about it lightening up at night.

Where is the manual switch mounted? I’m looking at this on my phone while waiting on a plane so I may have missed this info.

    Suggestion on color?

On my ‘19 model when I pop my locks the tailgate lock opens and the lights in the bed come on.

Anyone know of a way to hook the above referenced systems together?

Thanks for the replies and suggestions.

As I rediscover my truck, I’m sure I’ll be back with more questions.

I’m opened to any and all suggestions.

I've had my original Uni-filter installed for something in the ballpark of 10 years. It's not like something that air passes through all the time. On my '12, it only activates for like 15 seconds when I start the vehicle. I believe that on the '13-15's it will also run briefly on shutdown to help cool the cats but I cant confirm that. With the brief amount of air that gets pulled through your secondary air pump, you can get away with running that for as long as the filter itself is serviceable. As in not breaking down or deteriorating in your engine bay. The important part of that mod is to remove and discard the internal foam filter from the pump before that foam breaks down and gets ingested into the impeller of the pump or even worse, the reed valves of your secondary air injection system.

I’ve had mine in for 3 year, haven’t changed it or cleaned it once, you can clean it, possibly re-oil it, not 100% if it needs to be oiled (I need to check on this myself) read the instructions first but it can be cleaned, and reinstalled, there might be a special cleaning solution, I’m not sure. The filter itself doesn’t do much, just prevents debris from being sucked into the vacuum chamber/lines during its few moments of use, when you start the truck and turn it off, it’s that hacking sound you hear every time you turn the ignition off.
It’s your old crappy OEM foam filter inside the unit that will get sucked into places that will cost you a small fortune if you don’t replace it, that is the real and only concern.
Don’t forget to put the lid, helmet looking thing back on, it will cover most if not all of the filter, and that’s okay.

If your dome light turns on when you unlock with the remote, then turn off after you jump in and either close the door or start it, not sure which. Then you can probably rig it to unlock the tailgate & turn on the bed lights, then when the dome light turns off the bed lights turn off & tailgate locks. The light would be easy. The lock, I’m not sure how it works. My pops a lock is the manual one with the key.
