So I was adding some sea foam to my gas tank , I do so every other oil change. When pulling off the plastic tab to open the sea foam i found it to be a bit more difficult than usual. So I gave it a good pull and the plastic tab flew up and landed in the fuel tank neck and slid down. My question is how far down did it go?…….. do these necks have a screen to keep debris from falling in the fuel tank?

well if it fell in your tank the fuel pump has a filter so it's not going past that. i'd be concerned about the plastic breaking down over time though and getting past the filter. although, if the plastic is from a can of sea foam, it's probably fine in gasoline. i'd try and get one of those boroscope cams and see if you can find it. might be able to grab it with one of those long wire grabby tools.

i think there may be a flap or something in the neck. don't fill up with gas until you can get a look at it. i think if you fill up if would open the flap and push the plastic into the tank.

you might have to search around but i imagine this would be better than toyota parts sales diagrams: i would just suck it up and take it to the dealer. they have the right tools to get it out and know how the system operates.
