I bought some fiberglass bedsides with 4” bulge and 3” rose from fiberworx. But I have no idea how to install them. I’ve heard people say you can take the stock bedside completely off. As well as people saying you keep part of it but cut most of it. Can someone elaborate further on what you’re supposed to do?

Bhahaha good luck my friend. That is a very unfun job. You need a spot weld cutter and a lot of patience. You have to manually cut every single spot weld holding the bedsides to the truck, there are at least 50 of them. Cut the seam sealer where the bedsides meet the tailgate and the front of the bed.

I’ve done it on an old truck and it was a pain in the ass. Took me hours.

thanks. I was worried about that but I mean a couple hours isn’t THAT bad. I’ll definitely invest in a spot weld cutter. Thank you. Do you have to remove the bed as well?

I'm willing to bet you do. We swapped beds on my friends 98 Tacoma, because the original bed that came off was all banged up. He said he was gonna fix that one, by replacing the banged up bedside (driver side), and he hasn't touched it a year later because he realized what a headache it'd be. Doubt it's even possible while bed is on the truck

We left the bed on my truck when we did it and just used a cutoff wheel, we left the top and front which helps leave a little strength. Then used the lip inside to mount to.IMG_20170408_125040159_HDR.jpg IMG_20170415_124656984_TOP.jpg IMG_20170410_195941472_HDR.jpg

The bed has to be removed. The bedsides wrap around the back of the bed. It's a few bolts, easy to remove with an engine hoist.

Sure it's a few hours, but it's not fun.
