Yea, but am a craftsman? Am I a hack? Am I a woodworker? I don't consider me a anything. Just a guy who likes building stuff as a hobby, to forget being an engineer in real life lol. I work on complex systems in my day job. I love being a hack in the evening. Much less responsibility lol. Building wooden bowls is simpler than designing a closed loop propel circuit! And a lot more satisfying.

That is the best attitude to have.

Just being able to make those bowls your a craftsman in my eyes.

Most of the posts over there are hobbyist posts. I appreciate your wood working and I know they would too. You don't have to have a title to post over there... if that were the case I wouldn't be able to post any where on TW! But I like to play with my food, I like to play with toys and I like build stuff too.

You've already shared and gained knowledge so why not share it with others?

In reality, you do what you want. Just a suggestion after all.

I'm no machinist but I did use my micro milling machine with a 3/8 end mill to mill down the rivet heads on these Hot Wheels fire trucks.

I'm no paint and body guy, but I did sand blast, file, and otherwise modify, then paint and finish these Hot Wheels fire trucks.

I'm no woodworker, but I will make a display case for these Hot Wheels fire trucks when the fleet is finished.

So once you mill down the rivet heads, how do you reconnect the body to the chassis? Epoxy? I'd like to fix a few of my son's Hot Wheels with new axles.

Step 1 is actually a #50 drill bit in the mill and drilling straight down through the center of the rivet(s) The fire truck in this case only has 1. I drill down about 3/8 inch.

    20230625_165402.jpg

Step 2 is the 3/8 inch end mill to lightly remove just the head of the rivet without going into the plastic (or metal) base.

Step 3 is a 2-56 bottom tap and tapping the hole for an 1/8 inch 2-56 screw.

    20230625_165819.jpg

That is the way I choose to do it. There are other ways of just using a drill bit and drilling out the rivet head and using epoxy but that's never clean looking to me.

    Just for reference

Been away for awhile and now catching up to past posts....I would just say, "Sorry, that is not something I can help you with. Is there some other way I can assist?" Your sanity is important!
