tomorrow.....is a long time coming. lost my dad in May of 1996, 3 days after his 65th birthday... lost my mom in May of 2022, she was 91. my dad served in the Army in the Korean and Vietnam wars. he retired after 30 years as a Lt. Colonel in the US Army....he was buried at Arlington National Cemetery in 96. tomorrow, 27 years later, i have the honor of taking my mom's ashes to Arlington, so they can finally rest together. God Bless our service men and women, and their spouse's who served alongside them, raising families while they were gone.

This is a typical oven batch (most I can fit at one time) I’ll probably bake about 5-6 of these for Christmas.

    IMG_0526.jpg

Yup, collect them all.. bunts, springform, angelfood, rondels, jellyroll, sheets and fat daddio’s (great for 6” cheesecake as well as water baths).
Lots of choices - almond, cashew, walnut, pecan, pistachio, pine nut, you name it! Mmmmm…

My grandmother is buried there, my grandfather's ashes are with her.
My grandfather was a Col. in the Corps of Engineers during WW2 and then retired and served for about 20yr after as a liaison; my grandma/mom/uncle lived all over the world. my grandmother always made the best of it and did what she could to contribute + provide normalcy.
I have other family still in the Air Force and a retired Naval Officer. They are better people than I am - freedom is not free; they are the ones that paid on my behalf and I will be forever grateful for that.

    Have a good trip.

Here, here! Thanks for your service for all those in whatever role you performed.
I wanted to also especially thank you for fighting that fight to have them reunited. I know firsthand that process, as I asked for my mother to be reunited with my father as per his arrangements with them. Of course they acted like none of his plans were legitimately made and this was completely against policy. (Disinterment from veterans memorial cemetery mausoleum to be buried in traditional field manner). I would also like to shout out to any who do the “ride of remembrance” to the burial as in our case we were prohibited from entry (covid restrictions of the time). These folks made sure my father was not forgotten and never alone.

Well said, Murph! A true honor and a humbling experience to visit Arlington National Cemetery. Thank your father for us for his service to this great Country!

Your mom seemed to live a fruitful life to get to 91. God Bless her and your entire family

I don’t know my dimensions, but it’s the same size as the stovetop. I’d guess at 32” across.
The best thing I ever bought ended up free for my troubles, was my 5qt Pro lift-bowl Kitchenaid.
