I'm still applying finish to the BBQ table. Spar varnish takes a long time to cure, it's partly due to the fact that it stays flexible even when cured so over the years it doesn't crack. Doesn't help that this finish is years old, even though it was in a sealed Mason jar. I did strain it and I had to thin it out some with mineral spirits.
This is the third wet coat on the top.

I just love looking at this little bit of figure.
    20230708_200516.jpg
Its hard to get a good pic without the reflection of the shop lights. If i stand back at an angle and then zoom in it seems to work.
    20230708_200924.jpg
It makes it look really long though, lol.

I'll give this a few more days to cure and then flip it and put one more heavy coat on the bottom just to seal it up.

Frames have had a cove added to the edge, two coats of Furniture Butter, and plexiglass cut. 6CD3600C-CE5E-4AD9-BACD-9144F9E47B93.jpg4C118460-9F18-4CC9-BEEA-C3450C1DCDEA.jpg B14DEB31-A925-4223-9AAA-C4B5EE07C2D7.jpg

Lasered, drilled, and put the coin inlays in. Finishing up a plaque for a good friend of mine who is finally retiring. He did 22 years active duty and another 33 as a civilian supervisor at the Sector here. He was the reason I joined the USCG and is an all around awesome dude.

My son in law is a CG academy grad now finishing his grad degree. Not sure yet where they will be assigned.

My thoughts go to a TV series ... Boston Legal. Billy "Not so Shakespearean Anymore" Shatner joins the USCG Reserve despite not being able to Swim (someone told me) because it is the "easiest way to be in the military without having any skill".

I wonder how he looks back on that when his yacht founders in rough seas.

Especially given the "training ground" of the Columbia River exiting to the Pacific Ocean, USGC has my full respect.

Appreciate it. Ive lost count of the ‘shallow-water sailor’ and ‘puddle pirate’ comments over the years.

My wife typically chooses the Roman Ogee for the edge and gloss poly for the finish. Decided to mix it up with cove and oil wax instead. She put pictures from her garden in them.

Yeah it's time to step up from my 15 year old dewalt. I hear the makita has less vibration than the dewalt and a smaller grip, that's good as I have small hands.
