    Some stuff
    I'm going to temper these...

I have thr TRD skid, and the rest is RCI Aluminum skids. We this route to save weight, as it definitely was more money.

Mine have been fine. First real ding was MaBell, I dropped it right on the bump for the exhaust cross-over... all good.

Next time, I'm gonna go full steel front to back, with exhaust tuck..

Otherwise, the aluminun has bennies. The way I use the truck, it does the job no complaints.

My Jeeps, Trooper, S-dime, blah blah, all had steel. But, they were used harder than a cheap hooker hanging out bybthe port when the fleet comes to town....
And cheap, and easy build up.

    I'll amend my post.

    Get some skids.

    :D

The stock "skids" are called splash guards. Get something other than OEM "splash guards". Anything. Doesn't @Brownmatthall have his skid still?

His skid is cuddled up with my skid in the garage, waiting for someone to buy it so I can post mine for sale!

I used to go to Lia in Wilbraham, definitely not anymore. They have seriously changed, not only in their service department but in their pricing and shenanigans as well. Their parts department never has anything in stock. I only use them in dire circumstances. For parts in need at a good price, I order from Boch toyota south....cheap shipping to me and generally decent deals. If I need a part asap, Blaise toyota in West Springfield has the biggest parts department in the area and has had a lot of parts in stock when I needed them....you will just pay "in stock" dealer pricing. The Gale service department is good to work with though and I have trusted them many times for things that have been above my taco knowledge.

What John said, but yeah....I'm sure my lca's look way worse than yours @CttAznRanger and it's fine, no need to replace them over some scrapes

So my skids are steel… I just hit them hella hard apparently. They are the old Mobtown ones.

For as infrequent as I go off road, I’ll probably pass on the LCA skids. Also coupled with hearing that they hold dirt and shit like crazy, not a fan of the idea.

I am less worried about the damage to the LCA themselves and more annoyed with the MASSIVE squeaks they make.

I've for the most part thought of LCA skids to mostly be a gimmick

    If it's a squeak it's probably bushings

Might be worth it to cycle the wheel and see, could also just be dirt that's worked its way in?

Ohhhh i was talking about ifs and mid skids. Nah LCA skids aren't worth it for stock LCAs in my opinion. The skids John and Matt are talking about too are ifs skids.

But they look cool lol. I had a set but got rid of them, they rubbed at full turn. I'm assuming its because I need UCAs or something

Maybe, I'm not familiar with installing them or the specifics behind them but for what I wheel and only have minor scrapes on the bottom of stock LCAs, the skids to me are not worth it

Honestly, the 90 degree angle probably makes it worse

I figure it is. I’ve already had the UCA bushings replaced, it ain’t those.
Sorry, what’s it mean to cycle it? It squeaks over bumps at all speeds. Goes away when colder, lol. It was gone all winter, but came back obviously. IIRC rain makes it worse too.
    No wonder I was confused.

Cycle the wheel through its suspension travel, jack it up and drop it and see exactly where it's coming from. But it's probably the bushings lol, I thought you replaced yours though?

Nope, I only did the UCA bushings a while back. Never touched the LCA ones.

I originally thought it was the UCA since it was the old JBA ones, so I got those done but it wasn’t that.

I’ll try to get some short videos up.
