Has anyone else experienced their Spotter Mirrors shaking after install? I triple checked that I installed everything correctly. Motor screws are tight, housing to bracket bolts are tight and the bracket to door bolts are tight. The one concern I had prior to initial install was the, what I assume to be, support brackets did not exist on the Spotter mirror. (See Pic) Any suggestions or similar experiences? I have seen several threads regarding normal mirror shaking, but none specifically for Spotter Mirrors.

Yes my spotter mirrors shake as well, its mildly annoying but doesn't seem to get too bad until above 75 or 80. I haven't really looked into it much or tried to troubleshoot it, lately I've been setting cruise at only 65 or 70 to save gas lol and it's not that bad at that speed. Glad to know I'm not the only one tho

Look at the bottom of the mirror shell near the pivot. There’s a couple screws, I think they were torx. Mine were loose.

    TIL about spotter mirrors
    Looks like $70
Too bad no anti-dazzle, auto dim, heated, tilt down motor like a car

my left mirror shakes unfortunately. Haven’t figured it out yet. A big part of it was bottom torx screw loosened on its own. But after tightening the glass still shakes a bit driving on the highway.
Right side one doesn’t appear to.

not sure if broom in self serve car wash did something

I have spotter mirrors, part #SKU: SPM-6032-L and -R, purchased / installed around 3/2022 and they've been very good so far. No rattles or shakes, including during or after some moderate forest-road / dirt road travel at low to moderate speeds.

Interesting to hear other's experiences. It is definitively a higher speed issue (over 45mph). To those who have the Spotters, do you recall if they had the pieces as circled above?

I don't remember for sure but I don't think they did. I feel like I would have remembered them sticking out and they had come in a pretty slim box. 45 is a lot lower than mine seem to shake though, I've never noticed it at that speed.

Just installed a new set last week and drivers side shakes. Was just searching if this was a thing and sure enough this thread pops up. I'll have to look again and see if I can use some zip ties as "fingers" to put some tension on the mirror unit to take up the slop.

The things you have circled on the OEM mirrors are important in reducing vibration. I'm not sure of the specific name of them but I've heard them called tension fingers. This youtube video shows them and their importance in preventing vibration on a Hilux side mirror:

I also have the Spotter Mirror upgrade and I also notice the glass shaking. Not sure of a solid fix, but I have tried attaching the OEM tension fingers to the Spotter Mirros using glue. But they fall off easy without the plastic clip from the OEM mirror backing.

I was thinking of using a strong adhesive to do the same. Only problem is taking them back off, I fear will brittle up the plastic retainer clips.
