I just had my oil changed at the dealership. They overfilled slightly. Is it overfilled enough to cause any issues?

If it’s just up to the red mark you made?
    No, no problems.

Stick the dipstick back in and drive it.
    Don’t worry about it.

Umm the top dot is max oil level, I wouldn’t drive like that. Ideally it should be just under the max oil level mark.

You might be a couple of ounces over full. That won't do any harm at all.

As above that should be okay.

Mine has 1700 miles on it and they gave me up to 25k miles free oil changes but I decided to do my own oil changes.

I don’t trust those service guys over there, my father had a similar bad experience with Honda, they put in way too much.

Yeah, I added the red line because it's hard to see in the shadow.

Nothing I’d be concerned about at all.
I think you did a fine job by actually check the oil level.
    Most people don’t.

I only had them change the oil because it was free (Toyota Care). I'll be changing the oil myself now that I'm at 20k.

flip the stick over... how is the level back there. i know a few cars would show high on one side and perfect on the other. and can't remember what manufacturer but there was one that you were supposed to let the oil sit because they would show super low, unless they had sat like 10 min.

Would this be considered about 1/4 quart high?

I am not sure that you put the red line at the actual oil level on the stick... The 2GR dipstick is difficult to read in my experience, due to the sharp bends in the tube.

Here is another picture. There is a clear line about 1/4 over.

Let it sit level overnight and check it again. You can drain a little out using the filter housing drain if it's needed.

I will put it to you this way.
If that little bit of oil causes a problem, you already had a problem.

Seriously bud. Don’t worry about it.
