Hey Tacoworld, I was looking in my 2009 brochure and saw that you could get an Ipod adapter as a dealer installed option. I've been running AUX cord since I got the truck, and of course no one at Toyota thought it was a bad idea to put an AUX input 6 inches away from a manual shifter, so inevitably your cord gets tangled and ripped out of the Aux input and wears it down. Is there a modern Iphone adapter that you could plug into the headunit and work with JBL? I DO NOT want bluetooth audio, dont even try to convert me, it sounds like you know what... I am a stock head unit guy who doesn't need giant Spotify open in front of me. Budget is unlimited, I love this truck and just want a modern solution to something that was easy to get 15 years ago. Let me know, thanks!

    4 run, 2 don't
Is it coming down to the cord itself? Or the location that bugs you most?

I don't have a 2nd Gen, but don't see reason why it would be difficult to relocate said aux input and route your own cable elsewhere.

Keep in mind, many phones do not have the ability to connect a physical cable with the exception of it's own charging cable and unless your stock stereo is Apple/Android capable, connecting that USB cord would be useless.

I know you wish to stay away from bluetooth but I recently installed a USA BT45 bluetooth module that interfaces with my factory stereo. It adds the ability to stream, as well as a USB port for charging, and the option for an auxiliary input.

This way you relocate what you want, and future proof yourself when you are forced to use bluetooth all while keeping your stock stereo.

Cord doesn't bother me at all, I love the audio quality I get from the cord. Steering wheel controls would be nice to use as well. Has anyone put a later FJ headunit into a tacoma? Because I know the interface on that unit still works with my Apple Iphone 14 pro. I feel like every idea in my life these days just comes from stupid delusional OCD, if i'm out of my mind for what Im asking for also please let me know lmao...
