I’ll email SSO but was wondering if anyone knows the tow rating on this bumper.

I’m pretty sure this is one is 1 of 3 bumpers I’m considering.

    Thanks for any info

Nothing to add except Lee (SSO GM, I believe) was quick to reply to my emailed questions regarding their Hybrid Slimline front bumper.

I don’t tow, but will have a rear on the way shortly.

Yeah I emailed them. I’ll post up when they reply. I figured someone might know already so posted up in the meantime.

I could be wrong, but I don't think it's common for aftermarket bumpers to come with tow ratings. It's too expensive for them to get the bumpers tested for how many they anticipate to sell, particularly for Tacomas that aren't typically hauling stuff. If there has been ~2 million 3rd gen Tacoma's sold since 2016, I'd be shocked if more than 5% (100,000) opt for aftermarket rear bumpers. Divide that up by how many options there are, and they realistically only sell a few thousand units at most. It's much easier to put some disclaimer like "for offroad use only" than to go through the testing required to certify the bumpers. It's the same story for "crash ratings", or compatibility with the airbags for aftermarket front bumpers, I believe ARB is the only company to properly crash test their stuff.

That said, if the welds are quality and the way the receiver area is reinforced seems beefy (at least comparable to stock), you're probably fine. It's hard to see specifically how that area is reinforced on the SSO. Most reuse the 10 stock bolts that mount the bumper to the frame. I'd be more hesitant to tow stuff closer to the upper limit that the truck is designed for (i.e. >6k pounds) with an aftermarket bumper, but there's also the possibility that some aftermarket options are more stout than stock I suppose.

Here's an example of how my ATH Fab rear receiver is reinforced, which makes me confident it can handle whatever I tow in the future. From ATH, "Receiver hitches are not officially load rated, but built plenty beefy. Receiver tube is reinforced with 2"x2"x.120" tubing spanning between the mounting plates." The 2" tubing reinforcement is similar to the stock setup, although stock looks slightly bigger.

Thanks. I figured as much. I’m sure it’ll haul what I need. Thanks again!!!
