I own a Trail Edition. The shocks are the same as the SR. It just comes with a 1.1 inch "lift" in the front and a .5 inch block in the rear. I replaced my shocks with the Bilstein 6112s (w/ 9/7 setting) and 5160s to make it the same lift configuration as the Pro. It did improve the ride ALOT. I was going to get a Pro, but when I went into the dealership, they added a 10K mark up. But the Trail was on the lot. It looked good, and I could envision what I wanted to do with it.

As far as the cost, I do think they are a little overpriced. I paid 44K, and I think that is as high as they should get. But i have seen some here in Colorado as high as 47K, with very little difference in mine. But I also saw a TRD Offroad for 53K. So who the hell knows what is going on with the pricing these days.

If you want, try these vinyl coverings I got from etsy (
If you still want to try and get rid of the chrome, I used these vinyl coverings. I got them of of Etsy (Outside Vent ring / 4x4 Selector knob / Gear box cup holder vinyl overlays: Etsy / TVDVinylDecals LLC). They matched the color of the vent rings perfectly. But you do have to take your time to put them on. They give you plenty of spares though (which I utilized more than once).

The mirror caps you have to be fearless with. They pop straight off though.
The tailight assembly is a different part altogether, the fasteners are pegs and slugs? The mirror caps I’m pretty sure are just plastic clips.
You shouldn’t listen to me though. I’ve had my drivers side tailight off way too many times. I snapped the bottom tab.

Thanks for your feedback, I will order the box for my truck I have an Audison 10 inch that I’m very happy with but the current box doesn’t fit quite well behind the rear seat so I will start with the box and my current amp.
I already had the 10 inch TW3 before and also have a 12TW3 in a different set up so I know the TW series is very accurate bass
I’ll update once I get the new box

Damn good question! A few of us were talking about some weird "imperfections" in our windshields a while back...

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads...3rd-gen-today.399305/page-13048#post-28804295

Ours had the door edge trim and paint protection film in the door handle cups, hood and front fenders when we bought it. The original owner probably paid for a similar package. Now I'm wondering if ours has this so-called "windshield sealant" too? That might explain what I'm seeing when the sun hits it just right. Looks like teeny tiny bubbles evenly spread across the entire windshield. @Cement_wheels was seeing the same thing on his.

Thinking there was some kind of material on it, I tried scraping a bit of the windshield with a razor blade, but nothing... smooth as a baby's butt. Maybe it's on the inside?

I was going to replace the windshield but if there's some sort of "protection" on it, I'd like to get rid of it.

Anyone else know what the heck "windshield sealant" is?! o_O

EDIT: Maybe it's this stuff. Says "Windshield Protection is professionally applied to create a strong, uniform surface that helps resist chips, cracks and enhances visibility."

    https://www.permaplate.com/windshield

Or this. "Diamon-Fusion is applied either by hand through a spray-on application or pre-moistened towelettes. Applicators are certified and trained on the coating process and carryout the application at the automotive dealership."

    https://dfisolutions.com/surfaces-we-protect/car-windshields/

Sounds like a crock to me, but... ???

Windshield sealant is glass sealant. Rain-x, Adams glass sealant, Griots glass sealant, ect. Good for a few hundred miles depending on how much one uses their wipers or drives in hot temps.

So would it make sense to be proactive and paint them before installing? For the money, cheap insurance. Just askin'. Wanting to do the blackout thing bad.

I sold cars for 10 years and I can tell you why they do that. They were doing it back then, just not as much. They gouge more these days so that salesmen (and of course the dealer) can make a higher commission. I remember selling Camry's at full sticker price and getting a $236 commission. A Tundra was $412 at sticker, and a 4Runner was a whopping $508. Now with restructured commissions they make more, and the average 8 car a month salesman can make an ok living with these markups. I was fighting to make $2k a month and I was selling around a dozen cars a month. Subsequently I left that business.
