So my 2019 OEM Toyota SLA (which are never too sealed) battery is reaching/exceeding that time tested life span in Phoenix. Currently it shows no sign of slow starts, but I know its days are numbered. Anyone running an AGM without an ECU mod to up the charging voltage? The price difference between the SLA and AGM Group 24F at Costco isn't that much and I would gain greater discharge depth when running the fridge. Has anyone experienced longer battery life with an AGM?

I plan on hooking up my plug in charger once a month to top off the AGM with the higher voltage, but knowing it may end up going longer than every 4 weeks between a proper charge voltage just due to "life".

Oh yeah, I'm motivated to eliminate the spooge and subsequent corrosion on the battery tie down, cables and just about anything else in the engine compartment exposed to that sulfurous fume that a charging and bouncing SLA releases

I hope so. The battery on my 2014 F150 died in May and it screwed up my anti-theft system. My truck thought it was being stolen and shut everything down. I had to have a Ford Tech come out to reset everything before it would start even with a new battery. Cost me $180. I decided to give an AGM battery a try.

The way I understand it newer trucks with a lot of electronics, especially those with start/stop technology really need the AGM battery. My 2014 probably didn't NEED it. But counting the one from the factory that's the 3rd battery in 9 years. It is also my understanding that they hold up better if you drive a lot off road, or on rough roads. All the vibration and shaking is harder on conventional batteries. I'm hoping it will last longer, but if it doesn't, I've wasted money on worse things.

The old one in the truck was 3 years, and 5 months old. AutoZone gave me $50 credit because it didn't last any longer and the store manager threw in a 10% discount, so the AGM didn't end up costing too much.

I'm only on my 4th battery on my 16-year-old Tacoma. And one of those didn't make it a year, clearly defective. Other than that one I'm getting about 5 years out of them in the Tacoma.

You know, there is no truer statement. Decision made. Thank you.
