    Hi all,

Replacing the head gasket on my 1998 2.7L (3RZ-FE). Got time to put the service screw into my exhaust camshaft gear/sub-gear, however it looks like its misaligned (See photos). From the looks of it I need to rotate the sub-gear clockwise to align the two gears.

Is aligning the two gears necessary - what's the downside of keeping the two gears as is? And any tips on rotating the sub-gear?

    Thanks in advance.

Looks like the bolt goes in the front, locking the gear is necessary because the gear teeth are spring loaded against each other to keep them quiet.

Yup, figured it out. Have to spin the sub-gear one notch and insert service screw.
